This 8-hour self-paced class created by lactation expert Barbara Robertson, MA, IBCLC will give you a solid foundation in the basics of breastfeeding. Update your knowledge in this field. Much has been learned in recent years! Topics include:

  • Basic breast anatomy and physiology
  • Impact of the birth experience on breastfeeding
  • Benefit of skin-to-skin contact and self-attachment
  • How do you know baby is getting enough?
  • A review of positioning and latch
  • When to refer to a lactation professional or medical care provider

This class is included in both our Birth & Postpartum Doula Training programs and does not need to be purchased separately if you are investing in doula training. Class fulfills a certification requirement for Birth Doulas through Lifespan Doulas.

Barbara Robertson, MA, IBCLC

Barbara is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant and holds master’s degree in education. She is co-owner of LactaLearning, a state-of-the-art professional lactation training company. 

Barbara founded The Breastfeeding Center of Ann Arbor in 2008 where she teaches breastfeeding classes for parents, runs support groups, and is in private practice as a lactation consultant.
